Firsts

Ladder Position Equal Sixth

Wins 5 wins

Leading Run Scorers Ben Rowles & Greg Holmes – 294 Runs

Leading Wicket Taker Kian Roberts 13 Wickets

With Ben Rowles (SoS ) taking over from Simon Hill as captain the team took on a significantly different look to the past couple of years. SoS has done a brilliant job in making the team his own & with several new players to the team arriving just before the season commenced, it was going to take a bit of time till everyone got on the same page.

This showed in the early rounds where a couple of close games saw us fall the wrong side of the result, however as we got into our stride a big win against a perennial Subbies giant in Caulfield & then a demolition job on Port Melbourne, followed up with a big T20 win over arch enemy Preston showed what we could achieve.

The result in the final round before Christmas has seen us jump over Preston on the ladder into -equal sixth with Caulfield. A big second half of the season beckons & we are ready & primed for the challenges that lie ahead.

Seconds

Ladder Position Fifth

Wins 5 wins

Leading Run Scorer David Bonavia 214 Runs

Leading Wicket Taker Sean Black 10 Wickets

A patchy start to the season, impacted by availabilities & injuries, seeing an inability to select a consistent team week in week out. Results have been inconsistent with opportunities to close out games not taken, resulting in a couple of close losses.

A pleasing feature is that we have continued to see youth come to the fore with Abhik Nomula acquitting himself well at this level & Zac Chamberlain showing he is a player of the future. David Bon has shown there is life in the “old dog“ with wickets & runs seeing him promoted to the ones where he has also been a valuable contributor.

We know what the seconds are capable of & expect that with a consistent line up after the break results will show through.

Thirds

Ladder Position Second

Wins 4 wins

Leading Run Scorer Rob Anderson 116 Runs

Leading Wicket Taker Evan Nolte 9 Wickets

Availability has naturally filtered down through the various teams. Melbourne’s unpredictable spring weather has also had an impact on results as points were in hand, unfortunately games were unable to be completed.

The thirds are well poised at the break recording a solid win in the final round to push to second in a very bunched top 5. This provides a great opportunity to forge a path to the finals as we have destiny in our own hands.

You know with Rob (Randy Anderson ) & Bman leading this group, being well positioned at finals time will send a chill down the opposition teams’ spines. Going for a fourth straight flag, this group know how to get the job done.

Fourths

Ladder Position Third

Wins Fourth

Leading Run Scorer Connor Shannon 150 Runs

Leading Wicket Taker Gareth Cox – Martin 10 Wickets

With Parth taking on the captaincy duties from Bman this has seen very little change to the historical excellent performances of our fourths. With only 1 loss & results again impacted by weather, position could look more healthy at face value.

However, a 2 game buffer to fifth, places the team in an excellent position to push on after the break & again be in with a big show at the business end of the season.

New comer Connor Shannon has fitted into the team seamlessly behind the stumps & opening the batting, whilst Big Bad Bustling Gareth has claimed 10 poles.

Exciting times lay ahead for this group.

Saturday C

Ladder Position Second

Wins Losses Draws 6

Leading Run Scorer Sam Long 332 runs

Leading Wicket Taker Henry Shippard 9 Wickets

After a tough start to last season the Saturday C team again ably led by “Chopper“, shot out of the blocks early with excellent form resulting in very strong performances & getting vital early points.

Sam Long has been in great touch leading our batting group & getting a couple of half centuries followed by a big score of 168. Leading the way, this has enabled the batting group to perform to very high standards.

Henry Shippard continues to impress in both Saturday & Sunday games & his great effort & body of work over the past couple of seasons is providing rewards.

A perennial finalist, hoping to go all the way this year.

Saturday D

Ladder Position Sixth

Wins Losses Draws 2

Leading Run Scorer Pankaj Mohite 143 Runs

Leading Wicket Taker Angus Kelly 5 Wickets

Led by our reigning Swanson-Sahlberg Medalist Tom Martin our boys have had mixed results. As is sometimes the nature of 1 day cricket games are decided by very small margins & the team have been on the wrong side of a couple of results.

Having said that, there have been encouraging results as Tom continues to foster a strong “growth“ culture within this very young group. With a number of players still playing juniors the learnings will hold them in good stead for their futures with BCC.

With 1 day cricket there remains plenty of points on offer post Xmas & I am sure the boys can put their experiences to good use & come home with a wet sail.

Sunday C

Ladder Position Third

Wins Losses Draws Four

Leading Run Scorer Akash Singh pariyar 188 Runs

Leading Wicket Taker Jack Nolte 11 Wickets

The season so far has been highlighted by the number of players backing up from Saturday games to play again on Sunday. The results so far have been outstanding, with big scores being the order – 8/335, 4/321 & 7/279.

Some individual highlights

Ricky Sidhu 131& James Ingham 114

Jack Nolte 5/19 & 4/26

Sitting in third spot in a tight top 5 is a great place to be positioned at the break & the boys have the capabilities to thrive post xmas & give the comp a big shake.

Sunday D

Ladder Position Fourth

Wins Losses Draws Three

Leading Run Scorer Dean Anderson 173 Runs

Leading Wicket Taker Henry Shippard 10 Wickets

With more wash outs than games played it has been a frustrating start to the season for the boys. However, with several father/sons again representing the club, it is great breeding ground for our future elite talent. Being nurtured & guided along their cricket journeys is something that the whole club should take an immense sense of pride & satisfaction in as a family club.

Henry Shippard has shown his amazing growth to be the leading wicket taker with his 10 wickets (inc hat trick) to go with his 9 from Sat C testament to this.

The future is bright

A big highlight for the club has been the success of a number of our young players from our J G Craig Shield program or who are playing seniors this season. This is a great advertisement for the club with the excellent job Mick & Ross do with this group each year.

We have seen two of our 2026 squad members make senior hundreds (Abhik and Prateek) which is just an amazing achievement at such a young age. Get along to support our future stars, when the games commence with Round 1 @ Gillon on 11 January 2026.
