Brunswick Cricket Club will begin its selection for the 2025 Craig Shield in April 2024.
The JG Craig Shield is an Under 15 representative competition that is run by the Victorian Sub District Cricket Association. Running over three weeks in January 2025, the Craig Shield is recognized as part of Cricket Victoria’s pathway program.
Following the open trials in April, we will invite a reduced squad of players to training sessions over winter, followed by final selection in Spring of 2024.
Brunswick has a strong record in the Craig Shield, regularly challenging for or playing finals, and winning the competition in 2022 (quarter finalists in 2023, semi finalists in 2024). We emphasize opportunities for players to showcase their skills and improve their cricket, with a program of training, practice matches and the tournament.
The enjoyment of players and their families is a priority. We are proud of our Craig Shield program and that many players and families retain an ongoing association with Brunswick. We also recognize that some Craig Shield players have ambitions in Premier Cricket, which we can assist by close association with Premier clubs.
Many recent Brunswick Craig Shield players are in our senior squad, while others continue to play with their original team or have joined Premier Cricket clubs. Playing Craig Shield for Brunswick offers a breadth of opportunities.
